Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever... ...Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you.    Hebrews 13

INDUCTION SERVICE FOR REV CAIT WALKER

The Service of Induction for out new vicar, Revd. Cait Walker, will take place in St Michael’s Church Mottram at 7pm on Wednesday 23 September 2020.

Due to the current Covid-19 situation Chester Diocese has limited the total number of people we can have in the church building to 30, and this includes the new vicar and her family and all Diocesan officials. This means that, unfortunately, this will not be an “everyone welcome” event.  Letters of invitation will be sent out shortly.

We are hoping to video the entire service, so if you are not present at the service itself it will be available to view later.

7th June 2020

The Churchwardens and PCC representatives are delighted to announce that our Parish Vacancy will shortly come to an end.

Interviews were held on Thursday 28th May and the position was offered to Revd Catherine (Cait) Walker. Cait is currently Curate at St Michael’s, Boldmere, in the Diocese of Birmingham. She has accepted and will take up her new position as Vicar of St Michael and All Angels Mottram-in-Longdendale in due course, subject to all legal formalities being fulfilled. The situation concerning Covid-19 means that our church building remains shut, so we are not able to formalise any plans for the immediate future, but we will let you know the arrangements as soon as we can.

We look forward to welcoming Cait and her sons Elijah and Reuben to the parish. Please pray for the family as they prepare for their move.

The Churchwardens, PCC and congregation of Mottram Parish Church would like at this time to express their gratitude to everyone who has contributed so much to the life of the parish over the past months.

Thank you and stay safe.
David, Dejan and Christine

Meanwhile, Cait writes...

Hello, my name is Cait Walker. I am very excited to be moving to Mottram, to be your new vicar and to meet everyone, hopefully in person.

I have been the curate at St Michael’s church in Boldmere, Birmingham diocese for the last three years. I will be joining the church family of Mottram with my two sons Elijah and Reuben, our dog Bodhi and two guinea pigs Tom and Jerry.

I was born in Taunton, in Somerset and felt a calling to the church at a very early age, but I did not pursue it until after moving to Birmingham for university. I am very grateful to the many wonderful people in Birmingham, clergy and laity alike, who have encouraged me along this journey. I am looking forward to passing on that encouragement and enable the people of Mottram as they discern and follow God’s calling on their lives, both as a community and as individuals.

We've been in vacancy and advertising for a new vicar since August last year. We've been praying for a person who is

  • An inspiring preacher and teacher
  • Warm and approachable
  • An encourager and enabler, to help us build up a greater sense of church family

And who will help us fulfil our ‘Big Plan’ for the church building as we seek to cherish the past and embrace the future.
