Our new vicar, James Halstead

We are delighted to announce that the Rev’d James Halstead is the new Vicar of Mottram-in-Longdendale. His Induction Service was on Monday 20th February at 7.30pm.

James was born and brought up in Northampton and went to university in Nottingham, where he became a Christian. He worked for 7 years in a variety of jobs for Barclays Bank, which eventually brought him to live in Sale - and so into Chester Diocese. Having trained in London, he was ordained in Chester and moved to Gee Cross when he was appointed assistant curate at Holy Trinity. He is married to Holly, who is a part-time GP, and they have two young daughters - Alice (22 months) and Mary (3 months).

James says

“I’m excited to be joining the ministry of a parish which values what it already does well and is well-placed to capitalise on a number of outreach opportunities in the coming years. My passion is to see people come to know and love the Lord Jesus more and more as they find him in the pages of Scripture and within his body which is the church.”

James is looking forward to working with us, and with the local schools, having already met the head teachers at Mottram and Broadbottom.
