Fit for God’s Purposes in the 21st century?

Background:
The Fit for Purpose working group was set up in July 2008, to consult with the congregation regarding improvements that might be carried out at both church buildings in the parish. In the meantime, developments at the Magdalene Centre have removed the need for Broadbottom Church to be included in our remit.

The Written Brief:
Eventually, we have been able to produce a draft Written Brief for our parish architect. The brief sets out in a series of short statements, what our vision is for making the lovely medieval building of Mottram Parish Church fit for God’s purposes in the 21st century.

The written brief was launched at the 2010 AGM, and after some final amendments, was approved by the Parish Church Council in November and submitted to the architect, with a request for costings to turn this into a ‘sketch plan’ which can be used to make plans for the future. The brief is available for download by clicking here.  For more information on progress, you can send an email to the working group.
